Judges' Comments:

In "Solitude" the mystery of the self's longing draws readers in and in again. The poem unspools images like "peaches and plum blossoms," "sweet pea and lilac," and "earthy milky scent of hong kong tea" that engage the senses but then glance away. The interplay between direction and indirection lead us to feel the "misses" and "wishes" at the center of the poem's concern.
